Give new members a role automatically

Give every new member a role the moment they join, with PeakBot auto roles. Free, set up in a minute.

Dashboard → Roles → auto roles on join. Pick the role, save, and every member who joins from then on gets it. Free.

Set it up

  1. Open the dashboard for your server and go to Roles
  2. Add an auto role and pick the role new members should get, for example Member
  3. Save. The next person who joins gets the role straight away

PeakBot's own role has to sit above the role it hands out. Discord blocks a bot from giving a role higher than its own, so if the role is not being given, drag PeakBot's role higher in Server Settings → Roles.

Only after they verify

If new members should get the role only after they pass a check, use Verification instead: they get an unverified role on join and the verified role when they pass.

Let members pick their own

Roles members choose themselves, such as game or region roles, are on the same Roles page as self-assign roles.

Without a bot

Discord's own Onboarding (Server Settings → Onboarding, on Community servers) can give roles based on the answers new members pick. It does not give a role to everyone on join, which is what an auto role is for.
