What Is Onyx? PeakBot's AI Server Builder, Explained
Onyx is the AI inside PeakBot that builds and configures Discord servers. You describe the community you want in plain English on the PeakBot dashboard, Onyx reads the server you already have, writes a full plan, and shows you that plan before anything is created. Applying it is a separate, deliberate click.
That last sentence is the whole design, and it is the part most AI server tools skip.
What does Onyx actually do?
Onyx turns a description into a Discord server, then keeps working on that server through follow-up messages. It reaches two layers most tools do not reach together:
Structure. Channels, categories, roles, and the permission overrides that make a private channel actually private.
Feature configuration. The settings behind PeakBot's own features: welcome and goodbye messages, moderation and automod, anti-raid and anti-nuke, XP and leveling, tickets, logging, join-to-create voice, invite tracking, reaction roles, polls, and onboarding.
The second one is the difference that matters. A template can give you a channel named tickets. Onyx can give you a working ticket system, because PeakBot owns the ticket system.
How is Onyx different from a Discord server template?
A template is a fixed layout somebody else designed. Onyx reads your existing server first and builds for it. Templates also stop at structure; Onyx configures the features behind that structure.
| Discord template | Onyx | |
|---|---|---|
| Reads your existing server | No | Yes |
| Creates channels and roles | Yes | Yes |
| Sets permission overrides | Partly | Yes |
| Configures bot features | No | Yes |
| Can be corrected in follow-ups | No | Yes |
| Shows a plan before applying | No | Yes |
If your server is empty, a template gets you a long way. If your server already exists — which is the normal case — a template mostly means work adapting it.
Does Onyx change anything without asking?
No. Onyx writes a plan and displays it in full before anything is created. Until you apply it, nothing has touched Discord. If the plan is wrong, you say so in a follow-up and Onyx revises it, so a correction costs one message rather than an undo.
This matters most for permissions. The common way a self-built Discord server leaks something is a channel that was meant to be staff-only and is not. Reading the overrides while they are still a proposal is what makes that catchable.
What can Onyx not do?
Being clear about the edges is more useful than a feature list.
Onyx does not act on its own. It does not run in the background, does not act on a schedule, and does not change anything you did not apply.
Onyx does not configure other bots. It reaches PeakBot's settings. Another bot in your server is that bot's problem.
Onyx does not change platform-level Discord settings. Age-restricted channel flags, Discovery listings and similar belong to Discord, not to a bot.
Onyx does not replace moderation judgement. It configures the moderation features. What your community tolerates is still your call.
How much does Onyx cost?
The AI Server Builder is part of PeakBot Pro, at $8.25/month or $69/year per server, because it runs on paid AI models. Everything else PeakBot does stays free with no time limit: moderation, XP and leveling, tickets, welcome and goodbye messages, reaction roles, logging and analytics.
Free accounts get a set number of AI Builder messages, so you can describe a server and read the plan Onyx produces before deciding. That is the real output, not a demo.
Who is Onyx for?
Anyone who has opened Discord's permission matrix and closed it again. The value is not that Onyx types faster than you; it is that describing who should see what in plain English avoids the specific mistake that permission matrices invite.
It is also for anyone maintaining a server that grew organically. Onyx reading the existing structure means you can ask for a change to a live 5,000-member server rather than starting a new one.
