For a shared pomodoro timer in a Discord voice channel, LionBot is the most established option in 2026: Discord's App Directory lists it in about 73,600 servers, and its pomodoro timers are free. Pomo is a newer, free bot built around gamified focus sessions, LoFi Pomodoro Sessions runs a timer with music as a Discord Activity, and TStudy pairs timers with to-do lists.
Every bot here was checked against Discord's App Directory and its developer's own site in October 2026. Server counts are the figures Discord's directory showed at that time. Older lists often recommend bots that have since gone quiet, so there is a short note on those at the end.
How Discord pomodoro bots work
The pomodoro technique alternates focused work with short breaks, classically 25 minutes on and 5 minutes off. On Discord, bots handle it in one of three ways:
- Voice channel timers. The bot joins a voice channel, plays an alert when focus or break time ends, and posts a live status message. Everyone in the channel shares one timer, which is what makes group study sessions work.
- Text timers. You start a timer with a slash command and the bot posts a countdown and pings you at the end. Good for studying alone or in a quiet server.
- Activities. An app that runs inside a voice call as a Discord Activity, showing a timer (often with music) that everyone in the call sees.

1. LionBot (Leo)
LionBot, which calls itself Leo, is an all-in-one community bot with a strong study focus. Its pomodoro timers live in voice channels.
- Setup:
/pomodoro createwith a focus length and a break length in minutes. - During a session: the bot announces each stage with voice alerts, keeps a status card updated in a notification channel, and shows a Present button so members can confirm they are still there.
- Inactivity: by default it kicks members who miss three cycles, which keeps a busy study room honest.
- Several rooms: you can run multiple timers in different voice channels, and name them with placeholders such as the remaining time and current stage.
- Around the timer: voice and text activity tracking, study statistics cards, leaderboards with seasonal resets, to-do lists with coin rewards, reminders, and camera-required or screen-share-required voice channels.
LionBot's own pomodoro guide (published March 2026) says the feature is completely free and suggests starting with 25/5. Its open-source code on GitHub was still being updated in September 2026. The trade-off is scope: LionBot also brings virtual pets, farming and an economy, which some study servers love and others will want to switch off.
2. Pomo
Pomo is a newer bot that turns focus time into a game.
- Timers:
/studystarts a focus timer (25 minutes by default) and/breakstarts a break. Between/studyand/pomodoroit covers both solo and group focus sessions. - Focus mode: it gives you an "In The Zone" role while you study and posts a real-time countdown.
- Sound: built-in ambient audio such as rain, lofi beats, coffee shop, white noise and fireplace.
- Rewards: XP, daily streaks, pets and a virtual garden that grows as you study, with server and global leaderboards.
Its site describes it as free and notes it can be added to your own account ("Add to my apps"), so you can use it even without a server of your own. It is much smaller than LionBot, so it is a better fit for a friend group or small study server than for a large community that needs proven scale.
3. LoFi Pomodoro Sessions
LoFi Pomodoro Sessions is an Activity rather than a classic bot: you launch it inside a voice call and everyone in the call shares the same session, described by its developer as "chill music and smart breaks." There is also a web version at study-saga.com.
It is the simplest choice if what your group wants is music plus a timer, with nothing to configure. Discord lists it as a monetized app, so expect some optional paid extras. Like all Activities, it lives in the call, so it does not post reminders or keep long-term stats in your channels the way LionBot does.
4. TStudy
TStudy combines timers with task tracking.
- Timers: set a study time and it tells you when to take a break, alone or with friends.
- To-do lists: create, complete and delete tasks.
- Goals and history: set a daily study goal, track your time with start and stop commands, and see a monthly calendar of what you studied.
- TCoins: a points system that measures time studied.
With about 26,000 servers in Discord's App Directory, TStudy has a large install base. Its website still shows a 2022 copyright, so test it in a private server before you build a study routine around it.
Setting up a study room that works
A timer bot only helps if the room around it is set up well:
- Make one voice channel per timer. Name it after the cycle, such as "Focus 25/5" or "Deep work 50/10", so people know what they are joining.
- Use the text chat in the voice channel for check-ins and goals, so the main chat stays quiet.
- Schedule sessions. Discord's built-in Events let members RSVP and get a reminder when a study block starts; our guide to setting up Discord events covers it.
- Keep the rules simple: cameras optional unless the room says otherwise, mics muted during focus, chat during breaks.
- Reward consistency, not hours. Streaks and weekly leaderboards keep people coming back without encouraging burnout.
PeakBot does not run pomodoro timers. If you are building a study server, though, its temporary voice channels give each study group its own room that deletes itself when everyone leaves (how they work). A note on older pomodoro bots
Lists written a few years ago often recommend Pomomo. It is still registered as a verified app, but it is not listed in Discord's App Directory, and its public source code was last updated in April 2024. It may still work, but we could not confirm it is maintained in 2026, so try it in a test server before relying on it for a whole community.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best free pomodoro bot for Discord?
LionBot is the most established free option for group timers in voice channels, according to its own guide and its size in Discord's App Directory. Pomo is a good free choice for smaller groups who want streaks and rewards.
Do I need to be in a voice channel to use a pomodoro bot?
For LionBot's group timers, yes, because the alerts play in voice. Pomo's /study timer posts a countdown you can follow in text, and LoFi Pomodoro Sessions runs inside a voice call as an Activity.
How long should a pomodoro be?
The classic cycle is 25 minutes of focus and a 5 minute break, which is also LionBot's suggested starting point. Some groups prefer longer blocks such as 50/10. LionBot and TStudy let you set your own lengths, and Pomo's /study takes a custom time.
Can I run more than one timer in a server?
With LionBot, yes: each timer is tied to its own voice channel, so you can run different cycles in different rooms.
Is there a pomodoro timer built into Discord?
Discord's help center does not describe a built-in pomodoro timer. If you would rather not run a timer bot, an Activity such as LoFi Pomodoro Sessions gives your voice call a shared timer instead.
